We were as shocked as you were by the sudden announcement yesterday by Anthony Alagona of his departure from the Dealer Synergy Team and the turning in of his #OrangeTie.  Anthony was a great asset to the Dealer Synergy Team over the past two years, and while his time was spent on the road or at his home office, we will miss his everlasting upbeat demeanor and bright smile.  As someone who has never worked in a dealership, taken an up, or sold a car before joining Dealer Synergy, he was consistently able to master the process and present himself as an automotive professional to new-comers and established pros alike.  That is a testament to his ability to learn and the strength and value found in the Dealer Synergy Process.  From all of us here at Dealer Synergy, we wish Anthony the best of luck and success in his future endeavors.

Cars.com Employee Responds To The Internet Sales 20 Group Invite...

Unfortunately, Chip Withrow responded to the Video Invite to set the record straight for 200+ dealers at the Internet Sales 20 Group in New York May 18-20 

I don't think that AutoTrader.com and Cars.com will respond. Why? You said you were looking for responses from lead providers and the afore mentioned companies are advertisers that direct in-market shoppers to the dealer. Why would A consumer call or email if all the information I need can be found online with the exception of a test drive?

*** All I can say is that dealers are FURIOUS. It is blowing up all over the Internet. Inside private groups dealer principals and GMs are shaking their heads…

Straight up called them out! Lights.Camera.Action.
As a dealer representative, I would like some answers, not smoke and mirrors, but answers. Any company not having anything to hide and truly helps dealers would jump at this chance! The ones that don't are going to be the ones that will see their last check from my dealership. Social media in this day and age is a powerful thing. The invite is out there and was extended by one of the top automotive professionals there is and backed by many more.
Chip's (a Cars.com employee) comments ARE EXACTLY why this panel needs to happen, and I'll hope that those private DMs and emails Sean and I have been receiving from the folks in positions like Chip's will come to fruition and the local reps and regional managers push their VPs and C-level executives to respond. Autotrader alone has 7 VPs or Presidents that should be able to find the time to answer to their customers with 6-7 weeks notice.  Listen, as dealers, vendors, and manufacturers, we have a RIGHT to transparency when those same companies are the ones offering that same transparency. If these companies are going to send us stats on SRPs, VDPs, Price to Market, CALLS, EMAILS, website click-throughs, etc., to justify ROI, you CANNOT simply just say 'oh, well we provide all this other exposure too and we're really just a classifieds company.' It is one, or the other. You can't collect funds by saying you're doing one thing, and then justify that bill by saying you do another.

Car Dealers, I have worked with over 900+ dealerships and I have to tell you that one of the most inflammatory conversations is about 3rd Party Lead Source Providers and Online Classifieds. Almost EVERY NADA / NCM 20 Group, every Internet Sales 20 Group the subject comes up… "Do we really need them"? or some horror story about this shady company, that condescending company, the vapor ware etc… Well,, Toni Anne Lupo Fardette of the Atlantic Auto Group (22 Roof Tops… BILLION Dollar Company). Had a GREAT IDEA… Lets Get ‪#‎AutoTrader‬, Cars.com, Car Gurus, Carsdirect.com, Autobytel, Edmunds, Kelley Blue Book to be on a Panel at the upcoming Internet Sales 20 Group and explain their value with out the B.S. in front of 100+ Dealers! No "Ninja, Save a Cancellation team" squad. Just a room full of over 200+ ‪#‎Dealers‬, OTHER 3rd PArty Providers, experts, consultants, James A. Ziegler ALL THERE to "KEEP IT REAL". I have NEVER seen this done before. It needs to be done and it needs to be done in New York, May 18th - 20th. And this is NOT a Marketing ploy. I am extending this as a FREE OFFER to these 3rd PArty providers and 3 MAJOR ones have RSVPed to be on this panel:
Autobytel, TrueCar and Carsdirect.com. I am very proud of them and respect the fact that they believe in their companies value so much that they agreed to give the dealer community that they serve what they want… A chance to be heard. I am still waiting on a response from Autotrader, Cars.com, Car Gurus, Edmunds.com, KBB. Lets see who shows up. There are NO STRINGS ATTACHED. ToniAnne, is part of the 2nd most profitable privately held dealers group in the industry and she is right, dealers need to know. I personally feel that some companies (3rd Party and Online classifieds) have true value while others prey on dealers. I say we give them a chance to share their value and commitment to our dealer community and give the audience of 200+ dealers the opportunity to ask questions and be heard. What do you all think about this…? And do you think they all will accept our invitation?
